The method
How it works
Getting recommended by an AI assistant is not the same as ranking on Google, and it is not magic. It comes down to four things, in order. This is the method behind everything Visibly Booked does.
Why the usual playbook does not cover this
First, it helps to understand why your existing SEO does not already handle this. When someone asks an assistant for a recommendation, it does not simply read your website and rank it against others. It builds an answer from everything it can find and confirm about you across the whole web, and it leans heavily on what other sources say about you, not only on your own pages. That is why a brand can rank well on Google and still be absent from AI answers, and why being recommended is a distinct discipline with its own rules. Those rules are what the four steps address.
The four steps
The first question is simply whether you appear. For the searches that actually drive bookings in your market, "small hotels in the old town with a pool", "who runs food tours here", "best operator for a family trip to this region", are you named, or is it only your competitors? Coverage is about presence: making sure the assistants have enough clear, findable, credible information about you to include you in the answer in the first place. If you are invisible here, nothing else matters, because the traveller never learns you exist.
How the steps map to the work
Not every brand needs all four at full strength straight away. A smaller operator competing for specific, local searches may need Coverage and Accuracy put right and little more. A hotel group fighting for broad, competitive terms needs all four, maintained continuously. The right level depends on how competitive your market is and how much of it you are trying to win, which is why Visibly Booked offers a range from a one-off diagnostic through to ongoing management.
Every engagement begins the same way, though: by finding out exactly where you stand.
Limits of the method
AI answers vary. The same question can get a different answer depending on the assistant, the wording, where the traveller is and when they ask. A single check is a snapshot of one moment, not a permanent position. I report the patterns I see across questions and assistants, and I cannot guarantee that any brand will be recommended. What the method does is help you get recommended, by fixing the things the assistants rely on.
The playbook
What’s actually involved
The four steps describe what I improve. Underneath them sits the actual work, a connected set of things that make a travel brand legible, credible and current to AI assistants. Not every brand needs all of it, and the mix depends on your market. Here is what the work draws on.
Accuracy and information cleanup
Correcting what the assistants currently get wrong about you, at the sources they read.
Structured data and technical signals
Making the key facts about your business machine-readable and unambiguous.
Entity and brand clarity
Making it clear to the assistants exactly who you are, what you offer, and who you are right for.
Content built to be cited
The guides, comparisons and answers to real traveller questions that assistants actually draw on.
Third-party presence and digital PR
Strengthening what credible external sources say about you, since assistants weigh that heavily.
Directory and review consistency
Making sure your information is correct and consistent everywhere it appears online.
Destination and category associations
Connecting your brand clearly to the places and experiences travellers search for.
Citation and naming consistency
Ensuring you are referred to consistently, so assistants recognise and trust the brand.
Ongoing monitoring across models
Tracking how the assistants describe and recommend you over time, and catching drift as they change.
The point is not to do all of this for its own sake, but to make you the clear, accurate, credible answer when a traveller asks. What your brand needs, I identify in the check.

Recommended counts as one point, a weak mention as half a point, and not mentioned as zero.
In this example, competitors are recommended 3.2× more often than Caledonia Golf Journeys, and it is missing entirely from most high-value searches.
Your real check shows exactly this picture for your brand: where you appear, where you don’t, and the single biggest gap to close first.
